Cadence ("the App," "we," "our") is an iOS application designed to help physical therapy students prepare for the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information is collected, how it is used, and your rights as a user.
1. Sign in with Apple
The App uses Sign in with Apple as its only authentication method. When you sign in, Apple may share your name and email address (or an anonymized relay address) with the App depending on the permissions you grant. This information is used solely to personalize your experience within the App. We do not store your Apple ID credentials and we do not use this information for advertising or share it with third parties.
2. Subscription and Purchase Data
When you subscribe through the App, Apple processes your payment and manages your subscription. We receive only the information Apple provides to confirm your subscription status (active, expired, or in trial). We do not collect or store your credit card number or any other billing information. All billing is handled exclusively by Apple under their Privacy Policy.
3. Study Performance Data
All study data generated within the App — including quiz answers, diagnostic results, flashcard ratings, readiness scores, streaks, and study plans — is stored on your device using iOS local storage and optionally synced to your private iCloud account (see iCloud Sync below). This data is:
4. iCloud Sync
If you are signed into iCloud on your device, the App uses Apple's CloudKit framework to sync your study progress, spaced repetition card states, study plan, and diagnostic results across your devices via your private iCloud database. This data is:
5. Push Notifications
The App may send push notifications to remind you to study or alert you to streak milestones. Notifications are delivered via Apple Push Notification service (APNs). We do not collect or store device tokens beyond what is required to deliver notifications. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings.
6. Game Center
The App optionally integrates with Apple Game Center to power XP leaderboards. If you choose to enable Game Center, your XP score and Game Center display name will be visible to other players on the leaderboard. Game Center data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. Game Center participation is optional and can be skipped during onboarding.
The App does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We do not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework because there is nothing to request permission for.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party, except as described below:
All study data lives on your device and in your private iCloud account. You can delete it at any time by deleting the App from your device. To remove iCloud data, go to Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage and delete the App's data.
To cancel your subscription, go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iOS device.
The App is intended for use by adults (physical therapy graduate students and licensed clinicians). We do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
